Switch: There is one main type of earnable currency in Arcaea, Fragments. The total Fragments held by a player are displayed in the upper-right of the game screen (except in gameplay or cutscenes). There are also several types of consumable items with various functions: Ether Drops, and Cores.

Fragments[]

Mobile:

Fragments are used to:

  • Unlock songs with a Fragment requirement (after completing song requirements).
  • Refill 6 stamina in World Mode (24 hour cool-down) - 1000 Fragments.
  • Unlock certain World Mode maps.
  • Boost progress in Legacy and Beyond World Mode maps.
  • Extend your available friend slots.
Switch:

Fragments are used to:

  • Unlock songs with a Fragment requirement (after completing song requirements).
  • Level up Partners - 10 Fragments.

Fragments can be earned by playing songs in Music Play mode or World Mode, from rewards in World Mode maps, or from Course Mode rewards. Fragments earned from song plays depend on the song's level and difficulty (specifically its Chart Constant), score, clear status, and the partner's skill and FRAG stat. Fragments earned after a play are categorised as:

  • PLAY - Fragments earned after losing a track.
  • CLEAR - Fragments earned after clearing a track.
  • PERFORMANCE - Fragments earned after clearing a track with a Full Recall or Pure Memory.
    • The CLEAR amount is reduced in this case, but the overall amount is higher with the bonus.
  • FIRST CLEAR - 10 Fragments rewarded for clearing a song the first time.
  • PARTNER - Fragments rewarded as bonus or lost as penalty due to the selected Partner's skill. This bonus is applied before multipliers.

Calculation[]

In these calculations:

  • "Difficulty" refers to PST/PRS/FTR/ETR/BYD. PST, PRS, FTR/ETR, and BYD have a value of 1, 2, 3, and 4 respectively.
  • "Level" refers to the numerical level of the chart. ? has a value of 1, 9+ has a value of 9 and 10+ has a value of 10.
  • PLAY/CLEAR/PERFORMANCE fragments are calculated differently, depending on clear type:
    • TRACK LOST:
  • TRACK COMPLETE:
  • FULL RECALL:
  • PURE MEMORY:
  • The total fragments earned are then summed, and a multiplier applied based on the Partner's FRAG stat. The multiplier is given by FRAG/50, i.e. every 1 FRAG above or below 50 equates to 2% fragments above or below the default amount
    • For example, a FRAG stat of 70 gives a x1.4 multiplier, i.e. a bonus of 40% Fragments.
  • Each individual fragment category is rounded down to a whole number before summing. After applying the FRAG/50 Partner multiplier, the total fragment reward is rounded down again.
  • e.g. Consider a Track Complete on a FTR 7 song with a score of 7,913,375 using Lv 30 Kou (100/80 FRAG on Mobile/Switch). The fragment rewards are:
    CLEAR = 2 + 7 + ⌊7/1.2⌋ = 15
    PARTNER = ⌊15 x 0.1⌋ = 1 (Awakened Kou gives a x0.1 bonus for the above score)
    Partner: x2.0 (Mobile) / x1.6 (Switch)
    Total FRAGMENTS = ⌊(15 + 2) x 2.0⌋ = 32 (Mobile)
    Total FRAGMENTS = ⌊(15 + 2) x 1.6⌋ = 27 (Switch)

Upgrading Partners

Switch Fragments Level Up

Fragments can be spent in batches of 10 to upgrade a Partner, similar to Ether Drops:

  • The amount of Fragments used to upgrade a Partner, however, can be any integer value if the player possesses an amount of Fragments that is not divisible by 10.
    • This can be done by maxing the amount the fragments used to upgrade a Partner, and then reducing by 10 at a time by pressing the minus arrow.

It will not be possible to upgrade Partners if the player holds fewer than 10 Fragments at a time. The experience gained from spending Fragments can be calculated as

The amount of EXP required to level-up a Partner can be seen here.

Warped Shards[]

Warped shard
Mobile:

Warped Shards are consumable items that can be used to play Courses in Course Mode.

Currently, Warped Shards can only be earned from rewards in World Mode. Warped Shards can be used to replace the 4 Stamina requirement of entering a course, as well as allowing players to play any course even when one or multiple songs within a course are not owned by the player.

Warped Shards that are spent to launch a course will remain permanently consumed. As there are only a limited amount of Warped Shards available for collection, it is advised that players consider carefully about using Warped Shards instead of using stamina to play a course if the player owns all the songs in the course.
Switch: Warped Shards are not included in Arcaea for Switch. Courses in Course Mode can be played without limitations, as long as the relevant charts have all been unlocked first.
